During his official visit to South Africa, OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría met in Pretoria with:

Mr. Thabo Mvuyelwa Mbeki, President of the Republic of South Africa

Mrs. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa

Mr. Trevor Manuel, Minister of Finance

Mrs Naledi Pandor, Minister of Education

Mr. Membathisi Mphumzi Shepherd Mdladlana, Minister of Labour

Representatives from the National Economic Development and Labour Council ( NEDLAC)

Mr. Kgalema Motlanthe, Deputy President and Mr. Gwede Mantashe, Secretary General of the African National Congress ( ANC)

Mr. Lesetja Kganyago, Director-General, Treasury
They discussed the country's economic situation and prospects, notably during a workshop devoted to the first's OECD Economic assessment of South Africa. Mr. Gurría also held a joint press conference in Johannesburg with the Minister of Finance, for the release of the Economic Assessment (read Gurría's speech).
